Brand
THMAlt Duvenstedt · Since 1996
THM is a carbon component company founded in 1996 by Thomas Mertin and Petra Mertin in Alt Duvenstedt, a small village in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. An aerospace engineer by profession, Thomas saw an opportunity in the fact that high-grade carbon technology from aviation was barely used in sport and leisure.
The breakthrough in cycling came with what were then the world's lightest crankset and fork. Raced and proven by the Deutsche Telekom pro team, these parts were named THM-Carbones. To this day THM does everything itself, from design and tooling to testing and production, in its own factory in Alt Duvenstedt.

Engineering
At THM, lightness does not start with cutting weight. We first analyse the path the load takes, then lay the fibres along it. Plenty where it is needed, nothing where it is not. That is why THM parts are so light, yet most are approved for a total weight of rider, bike and luggage of up to 110kg.
Every product is tested on THM's own custom rigs to levels far beyond the applicable safety standards. Working closely with materials researchers in Germany and elsewhere, THM builds prototypes with production methods no one has tried yet and feeds the results straight back into its products.

Load path before form. Geometry and layup are defined on a precise load analysis, and the weight follows as a result.

Resin transfer moulding (RTM) raises tolerancing, consistency and strength-to-weight. It also has less environmental impact than traditional carbon fabrication.

Every product is built by hand at the factory Am Sportplatz in Alt Duvenstedt. Almost every team member in Germany is directly involved in engineering and production.

Collarbone (Clavicula), calf bone (Fibula), shinbone (Tibia), forearm bone (Ulna), jawbone (Mandibula). Every THM product is named after a bone in Latin.

Founders · Thomas & Petra Mertin
“A no-compromise approach. That is why builders who need the lightest and strongest components choose THM.”
Aerospace engineer Thomas Mertin found, in cycling, a niche where high-grade carbon parts were needed but no one was making them properly. Founded together with Petra, THM began with cranks and forks and has grown to include brakes, stems, handlebars and seatposts.
THM's Scapula fork was the first carbon fork built with continuous fibres running from the steerer all the way to the dropouts. Conceived with Formagic, a Cologne-based design studio, it went from CAD drawings to CNC-cut models, and every tool needed to make it was designed and built in-house by THM.
The company joined Italy's 3T in 2016, and since 2020 has been part of Schmolke Carbon, a fellow German carbon component maker. Through these changes production, sales and customer support have remained independent, and every product is still made in Alt Duvenstedt.

Cranksets
Clavicula SE · DM · XCFull carbon, axle included
SE stands for the Latin sine exceptione, without exception. The Clavicula SE is THM's top-line crank, its geometry and layup redefined on a precise analysis of load paths. Extraordinarily stiff in every plane, it transmits your power without loss, and weighs 293g with spider.
THM is particularly proud of the patented connection between the left crank and the axle. It is the first to successfully put a carbon-to-carbon interface into production at the heart of the drivetrain. Aligning the fibres of the external and internal splines reduces wear to almost nothing and eliminates noise.

The 30mm carbon axle runs as one piece with the cranks. With no metal axle, it sets a new mark for stiffness-to-weight.
The patented left crank to axle connection. Aligned spline fibres virtually eliminate wear and noise.
A power meter developed with Sensitivus Gauge sits inside the axle. It adds under 27g, and you can keep riding your favourite lightweight pedals.
Threaded BSA and ITA, BB30, BB30A, PF30, Shimano Pressfit, BB386 EVO and BBright. THM bottom brackets and bearings fit most frames.
THM's reference full carbon road crank. Choose compact (BCD 110) or standard (BCD 130), gloss or matte, one of seven decal colours, with or without power meter.
The new Clavicula with an 8-bolt road direct mount interface. Ultra-slim arms cut frontal area, and the stiffness difference between drive and non-drive side is minimal.
Successor to the popular Clavicula M³. As on the road version, a carbon axle joins the cranks, and it is approved for categories X1 to X4.

Clavicula SE Power Meter
Strain gauges, a small electronic module and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery all sit inside the carbon axle. The power meter adds under 27g, for a total of 320g compact and 329g standard.
Measuring from the left leg, it records power, cadence, torque effectiveness and pedal smoothness and transmits over ANT+ and Bluetooth. Accuracy is ±2%, a charge lasts around 150 hours, and it is IP67 waterproof. Power meter versions are made to order with long lead times, so please ask Rubi Workshop in advance.

Clavicula DM
The Clavicula DM uses the 8-bolt road direct mount interface. You can pair it with SRAM original chainrings, the SRM PM9 8-bolt spider, Wolf Tooth Aero, Gemini Rigel and many other chainrings, spiders and power meters for this standard.
The 29mm cylindrical carbon axle clamps on the non-drive side, adapting flexibly to the frame's bottom bracket shell. Total weight is under 260g.

Rim Brake
Fibula120g for the pair
For more than a decade, THM's Fibula rim brake has matched the performance of the top models from major brands at half their weight. Today's Fibula is redesigned for the era of wide rims, and gets its performance by fully exploiting the properties of carbon fibre.
The new Fibula is made by resin transfer moulding (RTM) for better tolerancing, consistency and strength-to-weight, and even the return spring is composite. At 120g for the pair, it is still the lightest brakeset available.

Adjustable Cam
An adjustable cam fits rim widths from 19mm to 30mm without moving the cable clamp, and with no effect on lever feel. Ideal for a bike that switches between wide race wheels and narrow training wheels, with room for tyres up to 25mm.
The 1:1.5 pull ratio is optimised for Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo levers, and every Shimano-standard brake pad fits.

Cockpit
Tibia · Ulna · FrontaleStem, handlebar, integrated
THM's cockpit starts with the Tibia stem and the Ulna handlebar. In both, fibres are chosen and laid to minimise stress differences, as nature does, making them extremely stiff yet smooth over road buzz.
The Frontale merges the two into one integrated cockpit, and the Frontale Aero adds a slim NACA profile. All are ready for fully internal cable routing (ICR).

Titanium and aluminium clamping hardware removes threaded bolt inserts, so the carbon fibres run unbroken end to end. The faceplate is carbon too. The 80mm length is also approved for MTB.
THM modified its RTM process to create a structural rib through the drops. Invisible without an X-ray, this rib makes it the lightest bar for real riders, with a 110kg total weight limit.
Two very light, stiff parts merged for the cleanest cockpit. Choose your preferred bar angle at no extra cost.
An extremely slim NACA profile on the top gives a good drag coefficient and a small frontal area, with no compromise in stiffness or weight.

Frontale · Frontale AeroNatural carbon · Aero in seven decals

Tibia
Most carbon stems drill through the fibres and add threaded inserts for the bolts. Tibia solves this with new clamping hardware made of titanium and aluminium. With fibres running from end to end, it is the stiffest and strongest stem in the lightweight class.
A streamlined silhouette inspired by natural forms, and a faceplate made of carbon down to its smallest structural elements. Now ICR ready, please confirm D-shape steerer and headset specifications when ordering.

Frontale Aero
The Frontale Aero combines elegant aero design with excellent lightweight construction. The NACA profile of the top is extremely slim, yet gives nothing away in stiffness or weight.
Drop 127mm, reach 75mm, 7° flare and 3° sweep. Widths from 38cm suit riders who want a narrow bar, and it comes in the same seven decal colours as the Clavicula. Computer mount sold separately.

Seatpost
MandibulaComfort zone · Power zone
The goal was simple, achieving it was hard. After two years of development THM released the Mandibula. Comfort seatposts share one problem: the farther they stick out of the frame, the more they flex. Taller and heavier riders end up on a softer post.
The Mandibula divides the post into two zones. The power zone is a stiff, light structure that hardly flexes however much is exposed, and the comfort zone gives exactly the right amount of comfort without becoming too much. Thanks to THM's layup, the saddle stays level through the flex.

Specification
The carbon layup damps vibration from high-cadence riding, rough roads and cobbles, reducing fatigue. Suitable for road, gravel, cyclocross and cross-country MTB.

THM cranks are sensitive to axle and bearing spacing. Tolerances vary from frame to frame even within the same bottom bracket standard, so we recommend THM bottom brackets and installation by a shop with a torque wrench and the dedicated tools. At Rubi Workshop we check your frame and match crank, bottom bracket and chainrings together.

Story
1996 ~ 2026Alt Duvenstedt, Germany
From 1996, when an engineer in northern Germany began making cranks and forks from carbon, to today and the direct mount Clavicula. For 30 years THM has stayed true to a small team that designs and builds everything itself.

Thomas and Petra Mertin found THM in Alt Duvenstedt. The starting point was bringing aerospace carbon technology to sport and leisure.
THM builds what are then the world's lightest crank and fork, proven in racing by the Deutsche Telekom pro team. This is where the name THM-Carbones comes from.
With steady growth, the company moves into its present factory Am Sportplatz in Alt Duvenstedt.
THM joins forces with Italy's 3T. The same year at Eurobike it unveils the new RTM Fibula and a 78g Tibia stem at 100mm.
Schmolke Carbon, a German carbon component maker, takes over THM. The two companies run production, sales and customer support independently.
THM introduces the Clavicula DM with an 8-bolt direct mount interface, continuing the Clavicula line at under 260g.
